Asphalt Shingles Find New Life in Asphalt Pavements
The March 2011 issue of Asphalt, the magazine published by the Asphalt Institute, highlighted the use of recycled asphalt shingles (RAS) in asphalt pavements. Steve Jackson, manager of West Contracting's three asphalt plants, weighs in on the company's success with the use of RAS. Jackson also details the importance of working with government agencies to explain the benefits of using shingles in asphalt mixes. "We've developed good communication between all parties," Jackson says. "Missouri is one of the top users of recycled shingles in the U.S. The state is looking at using 48,000 tons of shingles on state road work in 2011." Read more here.

The Missouri Asphalt Pavement Association (MAPA) highlighted NB West Contracting's commitment to the environment in its Fall 2010 edition. MAPA praised West for initiating green technologies that provide cutting-edge Superpave asphalt pavement. This mix was the first time MoDOT allowed recycled shingles to be used in a Superpave asphalt.

The August/September 2010 issue of Asphalt Pro features our innovative green pavement technologies being installed throughout Missouri. Additionally, out of more than a dozen Missouri contractors now using recycled products in their asphalt mix designs, MoDOT selected West Contracting as the spokesman for video reports highlighting MoDOT's green methods.
